A little poker!

Ok so I am still being really bad at updating this.

At the moment I have no internet at home. We are currently changing our account over but I am hoping all will back up and running tomorrow. I haven’t really played any online poker over the last week. Just one session and that was only to see if Hold’em manager was working after I downloaded it to get the 15 day trail. So much for using that with no internet! Even then the HUD wasn’t working. I guess I should read more about it and then get it sorted properly.

I did play live last week at the Royal Surrey in Morden. A 30 F/o which only managed a couple of tables. No joy there. I slowed played trip aces on the flop bet the turn and paid of a small reraise on the river after a guy made a wheel. He called with a gut shot and flush draw. That put me in shoving range when we hit the final 10 which I duly did after a limper with Ace 7 o/s. I got called by one donkey in the BB who was just awful and also the limper. BB also had A7 and the limper called of half his stack with 89 o/s and hit an 8 on the river for the pot!!

Then I played 1/2 pot limit short handed for a bit and managed to lose £100. Maybe it was bad kama after I won a pot when a guy folded the best hand on the river after I had shown. The board end up paired with 3 diamonds. We were playing shorted handed and all the money went in on the turn when the 3rd diamond hit but also paired the board. I had a flush and showed on the river and he mucked a full house. He only said this after he realised after another hand or two. So there was no way to verify and no way to get the cash back from me!! Oh well.

No poker this weekend as I am off up to my sisters to see my new baby niece J

No woman... no poker..........

It’s funny really because since I have been single (the last 2 months) I have hardly played any poker online. I just don’t seem to have the motivation. I can now play whenever and wherever I want and I haven’t taken advantage of that at all yet. Now I do prefer playing live a lot more than online but apart from Vegas for a week I haven’t really considered that much either.

I think when I was content with everything in my life and with my GF then I wanted to play a lot. My routine was more set and my life ahead more clear. That has kinda all gone now and a cloud of uncertainty is around and I have been quite content with just heading home from work and dossing around. Either watching tv, films, talking to my housemate or playing on the xbox. I guess it easy to be lazy!!

I need to get myself motivated and play more. I am going to drag my ass out of the house tonight and go play. There is a snooker club not too far away which has poker as well. I don’t think they have too many runners but I will give it a try anyway. It’s a £25 f/o so good luck to me.

Hello darkness my old friend……….

Ok so it been forever since I last posted. In that time I haven’t really played that much poker online or live. I have managed to fit 2 trips to Vegas. The first one was for 2 weeks but I spent more time playing golf than poker. I did go with my then girlfriend so only played about 5 times.
When we got back me and my girlfriend broke up. It was kinda funny really because we were trying to work things out after we broke up and I moved out in Feb. That also was following a trip to Vegas. A common theme! She said she didn’t really feel the same and she couldn’t really handle the whole poker thing. It obviously hit home more when we were away and I wanted to go play. I did try and not play too much and just at times where it wouldn’t be to bad for her but it didn’t go down to well. In hindsight we probably should have set some guidelines to when I should have played and that way it may not have been as bad. That was about 2 months ago and we did continue to see each a couple of time a week. However I did go back to Vegas 2 weeks ago and that seems to have probably killed things off.

Vegas 2 weeks ago was good. I played lots of poker and was doing good and was up about $800. But I wanted to play a tournament which ended up costing me about $450 to get in. In that I waded through half the field and then ran 10s into queens. Overall I finished up about $200 which meant I came home with $20 less than I went with. Not too bad. I did feel like I played good for the most part. One crappy session at Mandalay Bay with my buddy Nic who was in town at the same time at that was mostly due to be over tired.

This weekend as been more or less a write off. Last night we had a Halloween party at our house and then went out to a pub after. I was completely hammered and have been hung over all week. I have managed not to be sick, but I have had a dodgy stomach for most of the day. I have just lazed around on the settee sleeping and watching TV. I have not been that drunk for a long time and I don’t even remember the end of the night or coming home. It was fancy dress and I had my face painted. I must have had a shower when I got in but I still had loads of paint all over me which was very hard to get off!!

Well that all for now just a quick update. I should write more but my laptop battery is about to die! I will post again soon with a new project I want to put in action for the next 5 months.

Been a while!

Not too much poker this month. Looking back I have only played 6 days. For some reason Full Tilt decided to update itself and I couldn't log on. I mailed them and it took forever for them to get back to me. In the meantime I new update came out that seemed to sort the problem out so I could play a bit. So far it not been a good month $-350 ish.

I forgot about poker and work for the last week and had a nice week off in Spain at my apartment. Me and the Mrs had a nice week in La Manga with her family. The weather was great and we had a really good time. Now back to work for 4 days and then on Wednesday its off to Vegas for 2 weeks. I cant wait.

Full Tilt seems to not want me to play anymore again so I am now writing this and watching Heroes season 3 which I am loving at the moment. I am half way through it and it been really good. I have had them all saved up for a while now and just ploughing through them. Entourage season 6 has started again now as well which is always fun and entertaining.

Hopefully I will get to play a bit of poker in Vegas. I will not be flying solo and will be with the Mrs so I will have to fit a few hours in when I can between playing a bit of golf, drinking and having fun. The first 2 nights we have staying at the Flamingo in one of the Go Rooms. After that we are off to my friends house for 6 nights followed by 3 at the Excalibur and the last 2 at the Luxor. I am looking forward to seeing my friends and having lots of good times

Will try to post as and when I can :)

Downswingggggggggggg

Well after having a nice run of final tables in the 45man and 90man variance kicked in.

Date 03-Jul-09
Games Played 13
Av Profit -$15.86
Av Stake $16.73
Av ROI -95%
Profit -$206.18

Its really funny how when you lose you really question your abilities and normally for whether I actually like poker!! The exact opposite is true when I am winning. How fragile the line in between mood set!!

I had the weekend off as I normally will because that is when I like to get some quality time with the misses. Saturday was just a nice relaxing day. Sunday I was up at 6 to play golf in Beckenham. I have only been playing a few just over 18 months and not very regular at that. My aim this year is trying to get my handicap down to 18. A big ask me thinks but you have to have goals. I shot a 97 which was +28. Not too bad for my second time playing 18 holes in 12 years. I had 5 pars which I was pleased at and a few more chances at them but I didn't put well. Overall it was good though. Only one ball lost which may be a record!!! lol

After the golf a quick pint lasted for 5 hours while the Wimbledon final was on. I really wanted Roddick to win but it was not meant to be.

No poker Monday which was the first day I could have played and chose not to for a while.

Tuesday wasn't too great either:

Date 07-Jul-09
Games Played 9
Av Profit -$9.60
Av Stake $15.22
Av ROI -63%
Profit -$86.40

Overall my ROI since I started is still 22% which is still ok but my profit has been halved in the last week.

Time to watch the end of the Battlestar Galactica episode I am watching while writing this and then bed

Movies and the first session

Wednesday night I usually try to finish work at 4. Once a week you can either go in late at 10 or finish early at 4. I have now been moved to a new team and I always still try to get out of there if I am allowed. I think my new managers don’t seem to like people doing it but I always look forward to getting out of there early. It breaks the week up and is like a mid-week treat.

My gf also finishers early that day so we try and do something together. Last night we went to see Public Enemies. After reading some not great reviews I still wanted to check it out. The film was ok, not great but watchable. Whilst in the queue we saw that when the film finished The Hangover was starting so we got tickets for that as well. We both saw it a few weeks ago and thought is was hilarious. The Hangover was actually busier then public enemies even though it has been out for a few weeks. Well let me tell you, it was just as good the second time around. Everyone in the place was rolling around in laughter all the way through.

Got the first play of the month in:
Date 02-Jul-09
Games Played 11
Av Profit -$2.09
Av Stake $16.36
Av ROI -13%
Profit -$23.00

All was going bad until I was only left in 1 $6.5 90man comp. I was mid stacked going into the final table and then started to get aggro. I started to move in and steal the blinds and antes as they increased. Anyway I ended up getting head up down 2-1. The other guy was very passive, folding a lot and not using his chip advantage. I end up in the lead by chipping away until we both got it all in. He won the hand and that left me with 20K to his 260K with blinds at 2/4k. I then started to move in every hand and he kept folding. This keeps going on until I shoved with J7 and took a stand with J9. Anyway I ended up luckin out and hitting a str8 and then it was plain sailing from there -> ship 1st.

That meant I only finished -$23 for the night which felt like a win.

My hols are coming up. Spain for a week then back to work for one then off to Vegas for 2. Yippeeeeee

Got a few things to plan for the trip but hopefully I will be able to play live as much as possible. Also need to pick up 3k owed to me from my last win from Feb. Hopefully I will have no probs of the taxman and will get it without any probs. Will help pad the bankroll and give me some nice spending money

Weekend and Monday play

No poker over the weekend. On Friday I was going to play but I had a few beers and found the discipline not even log onto the PC when I got home. Saturday was a great day. Train from London to Burnley for my Grandma’s surprise 80th birthday party. I also managed to fit in a quick few hours at a friend’s wedding as well with the reception at the new premiership ground (yippee) of Burnley -Turf Moor.
Monday – After I finished work I was itching to play. Although I delayed it a bit while I watched Andy Murray seesaw back and forward in his game. In the end I had to play and watch at the same time.
Things started of bad but ended on a high. Total played 7 games:
1*$12 90 man
2*$10 45 man
1* $6.5 90 man
2* $24 45 man
1* $24 90 man

I bombed out of the first one in just 5 hands. I flopped bottom set on a flop of A,Q,9 and got it all in against A,Q with Q turning. Say bye bye.

Some of the other were bad as well. All in with over pair v flush draw. Then I had a few ropey ones but after a few hours I was on 2 final tables. 1 45 man with the top 6 paying and I was chip leader going in. That didn’t go to well and I was out after 3 hands!! FFS muppet.

The last one was the best one to get a good score in the $24 90 man. I had gotten very lucky in this with 2 table left with a 2 way aipf. I had a,q and 2 people covered but the chip leader called as well with a,k!! The board came with a nice st8 for all of us J. I started to get real aggressive on the Ft and building up a nice stack. I ended up finishing 2nd to give me some profit from the night.

I have finished a few of these 2nd now and may need to calm down the aggression when I get heads up to try and trap more to get a hold of the big prize. Anyway here is a breakdown from the night.

I am hoping to get a few games in tonight as well and keep building on the good month so far.

Bad day

Was super busy at work all day. Met a friend after for some delightful Nando's food. Always good. I need a new phone and will try to scope out an iphone over the next few days. I think it will either be that of a Blackberry. Not that i need it that much for e-mails as there is no way I will be linking it up to my work!

Got home and fired up 8 games. :(

Gym today 3k run the weights.

Finished watching Season 8 of scrubs. Always sad to see the end of a show. Although I have heard they may bring it back. Time to watch the end of CSI Season 9. They should finish this now as well since Grissom has left as well as a few of the other characters.

24th June

Only had time to play for 30 mins but I didnt even need that. I played 3 quick $7.5 super turbos and donked out of all of them in about 10 mins. I have decided I hate them and will endeavour not to play anymore even if I am short of time. So $-22.5 for the day.

After that it was transformers time. I like the movie. It was longggggggggg so I am am glad I got there 10 mins early so I could wolf down a KFC. I liked the film. The story line wasn't as good as the first but there was lots of action. some of the scenes were too fast for there own good because so much is happening but all in all enjoyable brainless fun.

So far this week the gym has been going well.
Mon - 3k run (15mins), 1k row 4k bike
Tue - 3k run (15mins) then weights

I'm BACK

Well its only been a year. I cant believe its been that long. I just checked the date of the last post and it was last July. From now on hopefully it wont be that long before I post again.

Well a lot has happened since then. I have played a bit of poker online and live. I had my biggest cash in a tournament in February. I had some hols from work and went to Vegas for a week. The Venetian deepstack was on and I wanted to at least try one tourney. I did want to pony up the $330 to buy in direct so I entered a few satellites. The event I wanted to play started at 12. I entered my last sat at 11am and finally won a seat. In the end I paid enough in the sat to buy in to the comp but who cares. The tourney started and I played the best poker I can remember for the next 16 hours. We stopped when we got down to 9 till the next day and I was 2nd in chips. The next day we came back played one hand and then everyone decided to chop it based on the chip counts. I ended up with just over $12,000 and was very pleased. Although I am still trying to get an ITIN number to get some cash back that was withheld.

Online I have just played little bits. This month to try and get back into playing more I decided to take all my BR on fulltilt and try to spin it up playing just SnG using some guidelines in order not to go broke. some of the other blogs I have read have done similar and it sounded like a good challenge.

Similar to other I will only play
MTT buyin no greater than 2% of my BR
SnG no greater than 5% of my BR.

Since the 3rd June I have played:

I am hoping to get to play every few days and then post after.
