The end of the month sessions

The last few days have caused lots of ups and downs. This included losing £50 Friday but getting a bonus to cover that. Winning £100 Saturday and then losing £75 Sunday. It has been all over the place lately. On Friday I couldn’t win a pot. I was all in twice with the dreaded AA against QQ and the KK losing both. I also lost a couple of other big pots with them to flopped sets.

Then on the 30th I needed to earn about 200 points on Littlewoods to get a £50 bonus. I got home late from work and thought it would take a good 3to 4 hours of play. Luckily they had about 10 games going so I got on 8 of them and that is when the fun started. All month I have been playing in the 100NL games and buying in for $50 so half the max on each table. Now normally I always like to buy in for the max especially in a live cash game so I can take somebody’s whole stack. However with playing 8 tables on the internet and not being able to give each one full concentration I think it the best strategy for me while I am getting used to it. It also helps when I can’t get away from a hand that I ONLY lose a bit. Another reason this helps is that it means I can play more games at once with less money on the website. I know that not the best Bankroll management but I’m willing to take it for a while I am building up on different sites.

Well in about 1 hour I have re-bought for $50 7 times on the various tables!! I couldn’t believe it. One guy playing a few tables as well actually wrote a note saying it was not my night!!! Normally if I feel I am not playing me best and it appears lady luck is not with me I will quit to re-group. However I still need to get some points for the bonus. Although this £50 bonus was nearly costing me £400!! Things then started to turn around a bit. It was funny but the guy who wrote the comment earlier about me luck was the only person I could win against for a while. I beat him out of 3 pots in a row on different tables flopping 2 sets and a straight. Then the other tables started to get better as well. One guy actually then wrote a note saying how lucky I was!!! That was after I stacked someone with QQ against his JJ aipf. He raised to 3 and he only had about 17 left. I thought I might as well re-raise to put him all in. Either he folds or hopefully my hand holds up.

So after all was said and done and I had earn’t the 200 points in 2 hours I started to cash out from the tables not really knowing how I had done. Some tables I now had over $150 on so I was hoping just to get out of there even. Well with the £50 bonus I actually finished up £25. So I only lost £25 ($50). Good times!!!

End of June update to follow.

This month has flown by

This month seems to have gone quite fast. I think overall I have played about 20 hours of poker so far. I still need to log a few more hours to get my points up to earn a couple of bonuses. I stated playing on Littlewoods in order to get there sign up bonus of an Ipod and also managed to double my money as well. I think with the offers they have at the moment a lot more people are playing on the Cryto sites because the other day they had more games running that I have seen before. I managed to play 8 full $100nl games which helped with the points.

The last 2 sessions were probably the best I have played in a long time. I am definitely more at ease now with playing 8 games and for a while I had 10 going. I have started playing more solid hand PF and not trying to get too fancy after the flop. Only one real beat although I played the hand perfectly. I raised to 3 with AA and a guys reraised to 7. Everyone else folded so I just smooth called. Flop was 6,2,2. That was a great flop as I assumed he had an overpair as well and all the money was going in. I checked, he bet 15 I went all in and he calls with 99. Blank on the turn and then BAM a 9 on the river!!

I can now also say that I have folded Aces preflop. It was an accident as I was winding down the games and I pressed fold like a muppet. I was in the HJ position as well and everyone else folded to the small blind who raised and BB folded. I put it in the chat box and the SB said he had 10s so that would have been interesting. Oh well.

The Nintendo DS I qualitfied for last month on Interpoker still hasn’t arrived. I mailed the website and they said I should get it within the next few weeks. I also finished off the points for the Sign up bonus so that was a nice £200. The only problem being that I lost nearly that getting there!!

Only one month until I am off to Vegas. I can’t wait. 2 weeks in Vegas (one with the boys until the misses flys out) and then 1 week travelling around flying back from San Francisco. Most of the accommodation is booked and paid for now so all that left is spending/gambling money.

Last weekend I went to the Wineyard Hotel in Newbury for my girlfriends 30th. It’s a 5 star hotel and was amazing. The suite was had was really nice and the meal was one of the best ever. We had a 10 course taster meal the in the restaurant there which has 2 Michelin stars and was super.

Just a wee bit

Only played for abot 25 mins last night before the Misses got back from work. I was playing 7 tables 25c/50c and broke even on 6 of them and managed to make a $40 profit on one.

I will hopefully get to ply a bit today, although I do have loads to do for the weeked. I am off home for my brother girlfriends 21st birthday. Should be good. I havent been back to Burnley in the last 6 months.

Me

I have been playing poker for about 6 years now. I think I have always been drawn to gambling (although poker is about ALL skill!!! Lol). I remember my granddad playing cards as a kid and my dad uses to race greyhounds and I loved going to the track. I first tried to enter a casino at the age of 21 in Arizona and due to the fact that we had been caught on camera drinking whilst walking to the entrance they wouldn’t let us in!!! Crazy as surely it helps them take more money off people if they are blotter. That meant the next time I had a chance to go was in Australia whilst I was travelling there. It was definitely worth the wait. My first time was in Melbourne and it was The Crown. The whole place was amazing. Fire flying out from stands outside and also a water fountain floor display. Water would sprout up from different hole in the floor. I remember betting my friend I could walk across it without getting wet. Easy money!! It only took a few mins to memorise the sequence and I was across dry.

I was with 2 friends and we were supposed to work our way around Australia. We all went off a door to door sale job and all got it. They asked us if we could start the next day and I said yeas as did Steve. John said no, it would have to be Monday. Whilst went knocking around in the heat John went off and end up at the casino playing roulette. He made more money than we did working and that was the end of the job for all of us. We naively came up with a system to play on the 1st/2nd/3rd 12 numbers and try to make a little money to live on. We would wait until 1 third had not been landed on for a while and then bet it. (as if it had to come in!!). We had some success and would quit once we won enough to doss around for the day. I think we then lost a bit and stopped doing it.

As for poker I had always wanted to play it. I remember watching it on late night TV. The first time in Vegas in 2001 I went past the poker room in Circus Circus and want to learn how to play. It would not be until the next time there that I would actually play live. In the meantime my gambling buddy Nic started playing a lot online. A trip round to his house and after a boozy night out I was playing my first game. An 18 man sng 1 or 2 dollar buy in that I won. And that how the story started.
